Generous support from Rotary Club of Salisbury and Tidal Health have had a big impact on the progress of Kamachumu Health Clinic.
EHI’s Co-Founder, Dr. Ngaiza, and Board Member, Dr. Mathew attended a meeting of Rotary Club of Salisbury in February of this year where various members of the club shared about the progress of the clinic and pledged their continued support.
Discussions with the Rotary Club of Salisbury about the Kamachumu Health Clinic started as far back as 2022 with Dr. Nevins Todd, a member of Rotary and supporter of EHI, who first shared about the project and asked for assistance for EHI.
This introduction garnered interest in the project from other members and a committee was formed. The committee met with Dr. Ngaiza and Dr. Mathew to understand the scope of the project and lend their expertise.
“In August of 2023, I had Dr. Ngaiza speak to the membership on this project. He received enthusiastic support for the project from our membership and committee.” – President Ernie Colburn, Rotary Club of Salisbury
The first priority was construction of a well for the clinic and funding for this endeavor was generously donated by a member of the committee, Marie Calafiura.
Construction of the well began in May 2024.
With that project underway, Rotary Club of Salisbury has continued to support EHI in procuring donations of medical equipment and supplies. Tidal Health is one such donor, pledging various equipment including exam tables, hospital beds, IV pumps, telemetry monitors, some furniture, computers, and more.
“This meeting [with Tidal Health] was primarily facilitated by one of our Rotary Club sponsors, Kathleen McLain. EHI is enormously grateful for her generous support, enthusiasm and time spent on this project.” – Dr. Ngaiza, Co-Founder of EHI
With these advances in construction of the well and donations of equipment, we are one step closer to opening Kamachumu Health Clinic and providing compassionate, accessible care to the community.
We are so incredibly grateful for the support of Rotary Club of Salisbury and Tidal Health and excited for the future of the clinic – but there is still much work to do before we are ready to open the doors.
